Telescopic upside down front fork

Upside down, or inverted, forks are a variation of the standard telescopic fork. As the name implies, the larger stanchion is elongated and mounted directly to the motorcycle's steering yoke. The front wheel and axle are mounted at the bottom of the thinner fork tube.

Upside down forks offer a greater resistance to lateral or side-to-side forces that can cause a traditional telescopic fork to flex or bend. They are found primarily on high-performance motorcycles, which rely on a sturdy fork to maintain stability during aggressive maneuvers.

Most upside down forks allow full adjustability of the fork's spring pre-load, as well as compression and rebound damping settings.
